Melanie Challenger is a writer, researcher, and broadcaster on environmental history and the history and philosophy of science. Host of the podcast 'The Psychosphere', produced by Social Broadcast. She is Deputy Co-Chair of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, a founder member of Animals in the Room, which works on methods to represent non-human animals, and a Vice President of the RSPCA. She also works in classical music as a librettist for opera and oratorios, and as a poet. Books include 'Galatea' and 'Tender Map'.
