Max Whittle was born and raised in Yorkshire, UK, and studied at the University of Oxford. Enchanted by Japan since childhood, he has been living in Japan for the last 20 years, now based in Wakayama Prefecture where he lives with his family. Max passed the Japanese level 1 proficiency test in 2003 and has spent 10 years working in translation. Having initially struggled to find Japanese study materials that taught every day Japanese, he decided to create his own book to fill that niche, "Real Japanese”. Available in Kindle, Audiobook and Paperback Real Japanese makes clear the key differences between polite and friendly (every day) Japanese, while using short stores to illustrate the culture that underpins the language.
