New York Times bestselling author-illustrator Matt Tavares is the creator of the Dasher series, and served as consulting producer on the Dasher animated special, on Disney Jr and Disney Plus. He is the author-illustrator of Red & Lulu and several sports biographies, including Becoming Babe Ruth and Growing Up Pedro, Matt is also the illustrator of Twenty-One Steps by Jeff Gottesfeld, The Gingerbread Pirates by Kristin Kladstrup, among many other picture books. His debut graphic novel, Hoops, was released in March, 2023. Hoops was a Junior Library Guild selection and went on to win the New England Book Award, the Lupine Award, and several state book awards. When Matt is not working in his studio on his latest book project, he travels the country speaking and drawing at schools, libraries, conferences, and bookstores.
