Matt Jenkins is an American author born in Evansville, Indiana. He is a professional keynote speaker and leadership coach with more than twenty years of experience leading people in both the military and as an entrepreneur. His writings instill the basic values of practicing hard work and being persistence. Matt began his formal study in a countryside preparatory school, earning an associate of arts degree from the nation’s oldest military junior college, Marion Military Institute. While studying there he was commissioned as an army officer through the Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC). Matt went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with a concentration in English and minor in History from Indiana University. Working as a high school English teacher by day and Army Reserve officer on the weekends, he went to night school and earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Indiana State University. The military offered a new opportunity for him to become an assistant professor of military science at Western Illinois University in 2002. Steadfastly moving along the leadership continuum of the U.S. Army with a variety of assignments and commands, he graduated with a Master's degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College in 2017. Matt's book, "Becoming A Great Leader," takes the reader on journey of a young leader who has grown through experience to understand the qualities of leadership. Jenkins shares with us the most important attributes that help the reader become a great leader. The practice of these attributes guides the leader in creating a path to a lifetime of influence and success in leading people.
