Martin loves writing books and is never happier than when he is hunched over his laptop feverishly typing away, although he is capable of tearing himself away in order to indulge his second favourite pastime of talking about his books. Martin is a very visual writer, and regards his books as films in a literary format. He has been complimented by many readers on his very descriptive and expressive prose, and the complex characters and settings in his books. There are many influences on his writing, both in terms of other authors, but also film and music. Some of the most powerful influences are films like Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris, Korean dramas such as The Glory, The Frog and, most significantly, Hotel Del Luna and Bulgasal: Immortal Souls. He's just finished watching two amazing series: Had I Not Seen The Sun and The Art of Sarah. He enjoys reading a wide variety of literature, and particular favourites are the Remembrance Of Earth's Past series by Liu Cixin, Koko by Peter Straub, Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson and The Orphan Master's Son by Adam Johnson. Martin is a global citizen, but has a particular interest in the culture, history and arts of South Korea and China, and many of his recent works reflect this fascination. His work has also been highly influenced by the cultures of Lebanon and Uzbekistan, two other countries he has a great interest in. His books are published by House of the Tiger and Austin Macauley, and are available from all booksellers everywhere.
