Martha Murray has always believed that education is the bridge to a better life. But to Martha, education is about much more than what happens inside a classroom. Learning can happen anywhere—in the pages of a good book, during a meaningful conversation, while exploring a new place, or simply by stepping outside and paying attention to the world around us.

She has a special place in her heart for children and the possibilities that education can create in their lives. Children are naturally curious, and Martha believes that curiosity should be encouraged. When children feel free to ask questions, discover new ideas, and believe in themselves, learning becomes more than something they have to do—it becomes something they can enjoy for a lifetime.

That same love of learning is deeply connected to Martha's love of nature and the outdoors. She sees nature as one of our greatest teachers. Walking through a forest, following a mountain trail, listening to a flowing river, or watching wildlife can spark questions and teach lessons that stay with us. Nature can teach us about science and history, but it can also teach us patience, resilience, responsibility, and respect for the world we share.

Her love of nature and exploration helped inspire National Parks on the Appalachian Trail. Through the book, Martha invites readers to experience the beauty and wonder of the outdoors while learning about the history, mystery, and natural treasures found along one of America's most beloved trails.

Martha's writing is also shaped by the values she holds close to her heart—faith, kindness, courage, compassion, and perseverance. In The Big Book of Catholic Saints for Kids, she shares inspiring stories that help children see that saints were real people who faced challenges, experienced fear, made difficult choices, and learned to live with courage and faith. Their stories remind young readers that they, too, can make a difference through the choices they make every day.

Although Martha's books may take readers on very different journeys—from the trails of America's national parks to the inspiring lives of Catholic saints—they share a common purpose: to help people learn, explore, grow, and see new possibilities for their lives.

For Martha, writing is another way of teaching and sharing what she loves. She hopes her books encourage readers—especially children—to stay curious, spend time in nature, treat others with kindness, hold on to their faith, and never stop learning.

Because sometimes the path to a better life begins with something very simple: a child discovering that there is more to learn, more to explore, and more within themselves than they ever imagined.
