Mark is best known for writing enthralling historical fiction novels, which take place during World War II. He’s particularly interested in events and characters which are less well known but still tell compelling and moving human stories. His thorough research gives his readers vivid insights into the people and places of the time, and his plots create fascinating and emotive books. Eleven of Mark’s Dutch Jewish ancestors were murdered by the Nazis in Auschwitz and Sobibor, and it is the preservation of their memory which drives him to research and write about that period. Mark has also produced many award-winning short stories. His debut novel, The Thirteenth Child, was shortlisted for the CIBA Hemingway award for 20th century fiction and was a kindle no1 bestseller several times. It forms part of The Rachael Kisch Trilogy. Mark lives in the North of England where he spends most of his time writing and researching future projects with his two cats for company. He would love to hear from you via his website, Instagram, or Facebook.
