Mark T. Gerges is a historian with the US Army’s Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, KS, teaching history to military officers during a ten-month resident course. He served twenty years on active duty as an armor officer. During his service in the Army, Gerges also taught history at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and served in armor units in Europe and the United States.

Gerges received a PhD in history from Florida State University and has written on the British cavalry under the Duke of Wellington in the Peninsula War and is the author of Bandit: The Inside Story of an Abrams Tank Company during Desert Storm, to be published in April 2026. His research areas include maneuver warfare in the Napoleonic era, the European theater in World War II, particularly the Fall of France and Battle of the Bulge, and ground operations during Operation Desert Storm.
