Margaret Manchester is an author from Weardale, County Durham, whose fiction and non-fiction celebrate the history, landscapes and communities of North East England. Her novels have been enjoyed by tens of thousands of readers worldwide. She writes historical family sagas and regional history, combining meticulous research with compelling storytelling. Growing up in Weardale gave Margaret a lifelong passion for the area's people and heritage. Drawing on her background in archaeology, genealogy and local history, she creates authentic stories inspired by real places, historical events and the lives of ordinary people. Margaret has taught at undergraduate level and has been actively involved in heritage projects, including her work with Killhope Lead Mining Museum and the Friends of Killhope. These experiences continue to inspire both her fiction and historical research. She also writes historical non-fiction under the name M. R. Manchester, exploring the fascinating history, ancestry and forgotten stories of northern England. Margaret holds a Master's degree in Archaeological Survey from Durham University. She lives in County Durham with her husband.
