Born in San Sebastián (1970), Maite R. Ochotorena worked as a graphic designer for Zeus C.B.—character design, 2D and 3D animation, and storyboarding—and collaborated on projects such as Risky Woods and Biomechanical Toy (Gaelco, Barcelona). However, her true passion has always been literature. She began her writing career with *El secreto de la Belle Nuit* (2007) and its sequel, *La sombra de Fourneau* (2009), in a unique and courageous way: she spoke about her works wherever her enthusiasm took her, in towns and cities throughout her native Basque Country, and even in La Rioja, Burgos, and Madrid. She visited all kinds of businesses, from clothing stores to architecture studios and hair salons. She simply introduced herself and shared her passion for books with anyone who would listen. In this way, she made her work known. Later, she discovered Amazon and saw an opportunity to reach readers more easily, so she began to make her way in the world of self-publishing. Nine works emerged this way before the publishing house Planeta became interested in *The Messenger of the Forest* (2021). From then on, she published *A Desert of Ice* and *Where Fear Dwells* (2023) with the same publisher. On March 23, 2026, she released her most recent novel, *Our Thing* (self-published on Amazon), an immersive story about superstitions and the fear of the unknown, whose pages bear her most authentic hallmark: nature, emotions, and a melodic prose that lulls the reader into a dark dance that will captivate them.
