Mack Wiebe was born following the depression of the 30’s and reared in near squalor, without benefit of an overseeing father. While still a youngster, a step-father became a factor in the family and likely changed the course of Mack’s life. Before going on to play football, Mark joined the Army. After his stint, he then played college football, which led him to a career in teaching and coaching. He and his wife, Meredith, relocated to San Diego, where Mack took a teaching/coaching job. Soon, he became the head football coach at Palomar Community College in San Marcos, CA. Mack’s son, Mark, developed his golf skills in San Diego, eventually becoming a golf professional who achieved success on the PGA Tour and Champions Tour. Mack left football to join a fledgling clothing company started by one of his former quarterbacks. The company was Ashworth, and it was a wild ride of entrepreneurship that eventually led Mack back to Portland, OR. Throughout Mack’s career, he has dealt with some of the fascinating individuals in football and business. They left indelible memories that Mack has now memorialized in Football, Blind Lucky & Other Phenomena.
