Mtr. María Guadalupe González Ávila Originally from Hidalgo del Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico. A polymath, with studies in Electromechanical Engineering, a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Management and Environment, Pedagogical Training, Naturopathy, and a Diploma from Alba Films in “The 22 Points of Screenwriting.” She was awarded an Honorable Mention in the Third National Contest of Didactic Strategies for Quality Basic Education (2006) and had an outstanding participation in the Chihuahua Medal for Educational Merit Contest (2013). She was recognized as a “Distinguished Woman” of Hidalgo del Parral, Chihuahua in 2020. She has more than 30 years of experience in education. Her work is diverse: composer, screenwriter, and director of music videos, short films, reports on protected areas, as well as author of several published books such as “Ecological Tales,” “The Jar of Frogs,” and “The Red Diamond Ring”—a fantastic adventure that spans from the Umayyad Caliphate to the discovery of America. She also published an educational support book for environmental education titled “Green Mind Setting.” Another one of her works is “School Tales and Short Stories.” With Tintero Publishing, she has published several illustrated ecological stories: “Kalaán, the Endangered Jaguar,” “Umi, the Wolf and the Green Hood,” “Obelia, the Vaquita Marina,” and “Cobar, the Koala Rescue.” Her most recent book is “Let Your Years Count but Not in Your Appearance.” Her novel “Palacio Alvarado: Its History” required in-depth historical research to bring to life the story of the Alvarado Griensen family, the construction of their residence, and the history of Don Pedro Alvarado. His mine, La Palmilla, brought prosperity and benefits to the state of Chihuahua during the Porfirian era and the Mexican Revolution. The novel won the Eká Award three times and was presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair, Frankfurter Buchmesse, in Germany. Through her ecological tales, she seeks to foster stronger environmental awareness in children, helping them understand the reality of today’s environmental challenges in a simple, child-friendly way infused with fun, optimism, and hope. She enjoys historical novels because she believes the future cannot be built properly without knowing and understanding the events of the past.
