Luis Del Orbe was born in 1964 in Los Minas, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He is the eldest son of Frank and Zoila Del Orbe and a proud brother to his baby sister, Jacqueline Gonzalez, who is a mother of three. Luis is also a devoted father to his seven-year-old daughter, Marabelis Arianna Cruz.

Luis earned his Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and a Master’s in Public Administration from Rutgers University in Newark. He is a state-certified social worker who diligently supports those in need. He serves as the Executive Director at the Council for Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey. He also provides per diem support at Tender Heart Support Services, assisting children with special needs.

Luis is passionate. His heart desires to serve, and he dedicates his time to mentoring at-risk youth and individuals through his own life experiences. He wants to make a positive impact and inspire them. A proud graduate of the 2012 Governor’s Hispanic Fellows Program in NJ, he has developed strong government and nonprofit management leadership skills.

Luis served in the New Jersey Army National Guard as a Combat Engineer and completed Non-Commissioned Officer training at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania. His dedication to service extended to his role as an armed auxiliary police officer for the City of Passaic, NJ.

Having overcome personal challenges, including a significant period of imprisonment as a first-time offender, Luis embodies steadiness and a desire for personal growth. He believes in the power of enlightenment as a journey toward freedom of the mind.
