Louis S. Bernier is a permaculture designer, consultant, and author of the eleven-volume Permaculture Ecovillages series for Harmony Permaculture Network, LLC. His work assembles practical pathways for self-reliant households, rural cooperatives, intentional communities, and agrarian spiritual communities seeking to coordinate shelter, food, livelihood, stewardship, and shared well-being.

His approach to community design centers on care of the land, care of people, and the responsible return and recycling of surplus. Permaculture Ecovillages presents consciously designed human ecosystems in which land, livelihood, culture, cooperation, spirituality, and practical responsibility reinforce one another.

Throughout the series, one guiding principle connects practical design with community life: every physical system must be supported by a social system, and every social system must be rooted in ethical purpose.
