Lizz Schumer is a writer, journalist and photographer living and working in Buffalo, N.Y. After growing up in the Queen City, she became interested in the unique culture and sensibilities of the rust-belt region, and much of her work explores what it means to grow up with the grit of steel filings in one's bloodstream. Her first book, "Buffalo Steel," explores what happens when a person explores that sensibility, and comes to terms with how her origin informs her identity. A Pushcart Prize-nominated writer, her work has appeared at Salon.com, Thoughtcatalog.com, seriouseats.com, Wordgathering, Minerva Rising, Limn Literary & Arts Journal, the Rampalian, Connotation Press, Block Club and many others.
