BACKGROUND I started my journey as an entrepreneur in early 2010, running a successful photography business for three years as well as a successful business as a nail technician for five years. These ventures were alongside my main job in education, where she worked as a teacher progressing to a tutor and assessor in further and adult education. In November 2017, I was unfortunate to come down with a bad case of glandular fever, which saw the beginning of things changing in my life. In February 2019, I began my journey in the world of being purely self-employed. This was all following being diagnosed with myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), also known as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), in July 2018 and additionally suspected fibromyalgia in 2019. I am a website designer and tech specialist, who works virtually with service-based business owners, particularly coaches and consultants, supporting them to grow their business by simplifying or implementing the techy aspects. Since starting my business in 2019 I have: • replaced and exceeded my main employed income • built a supportive team around me, consisting of an online business manager, a virtual assistant and four associates • invested in my own personal and professional development • Transitioned from being self-employed to the director of a limited company – Empowered Online Limited. • built a business that is flexible and allows me to manage my chronic condition and have a better life overall I have always been passionate about helping others and I'm now on a mission to inspire and help other people who manage a chronic condition to build a successful business around themselves too, so they can reap the benefits that come with it.
