Lauren Coyle Rosen is an award-winning, Pulitzer Prize-nominated author, cultural anthropologist, singer-songwriter, and visual artist. She is currently at work on her fifth nonfiction book, Goddess: A History (Henry Holt, forthcoming). She is the author of twelve books to date, four nonfiction books and eight volumes of poetry and art. Her other books include: Hannibal Lokumbe: Spiritual Soundscapes of Music, Life, and Liberation (coauthored with Hannibal Lokumbe, Columbia University Press, 2024); The Spirit of Ani: Reflections on Spirituality, Feminism, Music, and Freedom (coauthored with Ani DiFranco, Akashic Books, 2026); Law in Light: Priestesses, Priests, and the Revitalization of Akan Spirituality in the United States and Ghana (University of California Press, 2024); and Fires of Gold: Law, Spirit, and Sacrificial Labor in Ghana (University of California Press, 2020). Coyle Rosen has released five acclaimed music albums, including, most recently, The Fate of Art. She founded and writes for The Spiritual Muses magazine and is currently a fellow at Harvard University. She was a cultural anthropology professor at Princeton University, where she received the President's Award in Distinguished Teaching, among other honors. She has a J.D. with honors from Harvard Law School and a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from the University of Chicago. She lives in Philadelphia and Washington, DC, with her husband, the author, historian, and legal commentator Jeffrey Rosen.
