Larry Chambers born (1947) in Santa Paula, California, went to Vietnam in 1968. His first book, Recondo – LRRPs in the 101st Airborne is one of a collection of books made mandatory reading for U.S. Army Rangers. Chambers is an active member in the Phnom Penh Rotary Club, award-winning artist and owner of the Royal Kingdom Publishing Company. Google ‘Larry Chambers’ and you’ll read words like ‘prolific author,’ ‘expert,’ ‘acclaimed writer,’ Once Wall Street’s highest paid ghostwriters and then, of course, references to his many books on Amazon.com, etc. A first place winner in the 2011 National VA Art Competition; and the recipient of the Ojai WordFest Award, recognized for outstanding literary talent. Chambers was also one of 13 exhibiting artists acknowledged by the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Commission. Chambers holds Bachelors and Master’s Degrees from the University of Utah and graduated as a Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society member. Chambers has studied psychology, mythology, linguistics, investments at the New York Institute of Finance and storytelling at Iowa’s Writers Conference. He was a stockbroker at the Wall Street firm, EF Hutton & Co., a vice president, Blue Chip producer and member of the Million Dollar Club. Military Service Chambers did two tours during the Vietnam War. Chambers was a buck sergeant in one of the 13 LRP (long range reconnaissance patrol) companies; F Co 58th Inf (LRR) and L Co 75th Rangers, 101st Airborne Division 1968/69. He has a Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars, two Air Medals; Combat Infantryman’s Badge; Parachute Badge; ARCOM Medal; Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Vietnam Service and Vietnam Campaign Metals, National Defense, Good Conduct Metal and is a 5th Special Forces MACV Recondo School graduate. In 2011 Chambers began going back to Vietnam and Cambodia in order to research the multi-generational effects of U.S. military action upon the counties, and populations, that we once believed to be enemies of the United States of America. He now lives in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Barron's magazine chose his Protect Your 401(k) as one of “Best Investment Books of 2002”. Named as a finalist in the 2004 Rupert Hughes Prose Writing Award. Three of his books remain specialty bestsellers and have found their way into book-of-the-month clubs. In 2005 Chambers was named a Marketing Guru by the editors at Investment Advisor magazine. He’s an advisory board member for the Journal of Retirement Planning, Associate Editor for the Journal of Investing the Business and Economics columnist for the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Forum; a contributing editor for Investment Advisor magazine; and Wealth Manager contributing writer for Financial Planning, On Wall Street, Registered Representative and Pension Management. His screenplay Cub Scout Commandos sold to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures Inc. (MGM) (2003) and a made for television script; the Deadliest School on Earth sold to the History Channel (2001). Chuck Myers, Knight Ridder, Washington Bureau named The First Time Investor as one of the top five books for “investing on a shoestring” and became a feature selection in Money Magazine & Fortune Magazine’s Book of the Month Clubs 1992. He was a senior writer for The Journal of U.S. Military Special Operations and 1993 he wrote Shearson Lehman Brothers retirement newsletter, Plan Perspective.
