Kirsten has a background in advertising and now runs her own consultancy specialising in psychological interviewing and focus groups. Over the past 25 years, she has interviewed the Great British public on everything from Rolos to razors.

Kirsten is also a keen amateur archaeologist and loves to spend her weekends hacking through the mud on a local Roman dig. She is also a staunch supporter of Wycombe Wanderers - especially when they are winning!

Kirsten writes contemporary fiction as Kirsten Hesketh. Another Us, published by Canelo in 2020, is an uplifting and poignant novel about love, family and autism.

Kirsten also writes wartime sagas as Poppy Cooper and Kirsty Dougal. The Post Office Girls and A Post Office Christmas were published by Hodder & Stoughton in 2021 and are based on the lives and loves of the girls who worked the the Army Post Office's Home Depot on Regent's Park in WW1. Wartime on Sanctuary Lane and A Christmas Miracle on Sanctuary Lane were published by Penguin Michael Joseph in 2024 and are about a young woman setting up an animal hospital in London's East End in WW1. And The Poppy Girls, also published by Penguin in 2025, is about three young women growing up on the Poppy Factory Estate in WW2 and facing a war of their own.
