Kate Banco is a retired Spanish, ESL, Alternative Ed and Reading teacher. Since her retirement she has written a series of three young adult novels. Fish Camp, Forensics Camp and Bear Island Camp. The first book in the series, Fish Camp, has been translated into Spanish under the title of Sin Familia. All three of these novels can be used in a middle and high school classroom for topics about Mexican Culture, immigration and the struggle of the immigrant student. The translated copy of Fish Camp can be used in a Spanish 2-4 classroom. Kate is currently writing a women's contemporary novel, Hiding in Plain Sight, which she hopes to finish by January 1, 2027. Hiding in Plain Sight is set in a small town in Oregon. It deals with a young woman who is on the run from a stalker and sets up a covert operation in plain sight under the noses of local officials. This intriguing novel will have you wondering who is hiding from who, or is it whom? Other interests that keep Kate busy are gardening, genealogy and attending her weekly writing group called the Writer's Guild. The encouragement from this group has helped her with inspiration for her new book. Classroom readings or visits are available. Contact Kate for more information.
