Karen Morris writes preparedness books for ordinary people who want to be ready for life's emergencies - without living in fear of them. Her practical, down-to-earth approach grew out of something she learned the hard way: preparedness isn't just what you have. It's what you know, what you can do, and how you respond when life suddenly stops going according to plan.

Who is she? In a nutshell, she is a...

Christian. Wife. Mom. Teacher. Prepper. Trekkie. Aspiring Gardener. Organizational nut. Reluctant Kitchen Engineer.

Her preparedness knowledge grew from real experience: tornado damage, civil unrest, financial uncertainty, and even a knife-wielding attacker at a chess club meeting.

Karen didn't set out to become a prepper. She began as a couponing, homeschooling mom whose bargain stockpile slowly became something more: a way to help her family handle the unexpected.

Today, she is the author of A Year Without the Grocery Store, Mom on the Run, and Adaptive Prepping. Through her books and Are You Prepared, Mama?, Karen helps families prepare in practical, affordable, manageable ways.

Her philosophy is simple: preparedness isn't about predicting every disaster. It's about having the skills, supplies, and mindset to face whatever comes next.
