Justin Maffett is a lawyer and writer based in Virginia. His work explores how authority, judgment, and responsibility operate inside modern institutions—especially during moments of crisis, vulnerability, and strain.

He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Columbia Law School and has practiced law at leading international firms and as Assistant General Counsel for a Fortune 500 company. His professional background spans governance, regulatory compliance, and public accountability, alongside pro bono work supporting veterans and families navigating complex administrative systems.

Beyond the Kingdom Within is his first book. It blends memoir and essay to examine how power is exercised in real-world settings—hospitals, courts, agencies, and public life—and asks what restraint, care, and legitimacy require in an age of institutional failure.
