Julie Bradley was born with adventure genes and an inconvenient curiosity about what lies beyond the horizon. She shares that passion in her Escape Series: *Escape from the Ordinary*, *Crossing Pirate Waters*, and *Great Loop Escape*.

Her first two books tell the true story of the seven-and-a-half years she and her husband, Glen, spent sailing around the world. After twenty years as a U.S. Army Military Intelligence Officer, Julie traded her uniform, career, and worldly possessions for the dream that had sustained her through long military deployments. Her ever-growing stacks of *Cruising World*, *Sail*, and *Latitude 38* had reached hoarder proportions by the time she and Glen finally purged their belongings and bought their new home—a French-built Amel blue-water sailboat.

Years later, they traded sail for power and set off aboard *Stardust* to travel America’s Great Loop. What began as an escape from a world closed by the pandemic became a 6,000-mile adventure through the rivers, canals, Great Lakes, Intracoastal Waterway, and inland waterways of the eastern United States. That journey became *Great Loop Escape*, the third book in Julie’s Escape Series.

Julie’s candid accounts of unfamiliar places, unexpected friendships, and the realities of life on the water have appeared in *Latitude 38*, *Cruising World*, *Boating New Zealand*, *Money*, and *BoatUS*, as well as the Sunday travel sections of more than thirteen U.S. newspapers. She also wrote for the New Zealand press while serving on the race committee for the 2002 Louis Vuitton Challenger Series and America’s Cup races in Auckland.
