Publisher's Summary

You don’t have to know a spinnaker from a mainsail to enjoy this adventure book. Join Glen and Julie as they continue around the world through less traveled, dangerous areas on the far side of the world.

Turmoil in the Mideast convinces Glen and Julie to linger in the South Pacific, visiting primitive villages on remote islands. But hang on tight, because to finish their voyage, they must leave friendly shores and navigate through trouble in the Indian Ocean, Gulf of Aden, and the Red Sea before arriving in Europe.

Full of dry wit and compelling descriptions, Julie takes the listener along for the ride of a lifetime in this sequel (book two of the Escape Series) to her previous best seller Escape from the Ordinary.

Real World Thriller

Amazing story, and its real life. Throughout the book I wondered if I would have had the courage and stamina to survive all that Julie and Glen survived. I know its all true; over their 7 years at sea we heard about their adventures thru phone calls, emails and short visits. Because Julie compiled a record of their experiences on a daily basis, she truly captured the feel and sense of the moment. The narrator, Gabrielle Penabaz sounded so much like Julie that i really thought Julie might have narrated the book herself. Gabrielle picked up the sound and feel of Julie's story so well it never sounded like another person just reading the book. As Julie mentions toward the end of the book, she and Glen went on to volunteer with the International Red Cross. I really hope she writes another book about those harrowing experiences. Nice Job Julie!

Easy Listening Adventure

As a fellow world traveler I enjoyed this book and as with any Audio book the narrator helped bring the story to life "she was excellent". I'm not a sailor but just like I believed that Capt Shackleton made some poor decisions that made him a hero I do feel the same applies here. This book was an excellent mental get away I just had to many WTF moments.

Is this fiction or non-fiction

,,, non-fiction, which makes it hard to put down.

I am now the proud owner of the audible and kindle for this book. I added the kindle after listening to the audible so that I can use the internet to explore the locations and cultures Julie and Glen have explored. I suppose this is one way to see and experience parts our world that we would likely never see ourselves. In my humble opinion, these two rank right up there with many great adventurers/explorers as far as willingness to take on a challenge despite the risk. They are not reckless, but I do think definitely pretty bold at times. Suppose that is what can make life exciting ... including a humble recognition re: the importance to give back. Julie has authored two excellent books ... great job. And thank you both for your service to our country.
