When I'm not writing novels I am a psychotherapist, so my fiction has of course been coloured by the stories and truths my clients have shared with me. I suppose I write in order to better understand things, a kind of working through of the wonder and complexity of being human.
I have always read lots - one of my earliest memories is of hiding behind the sofa reading Jonathan Livingstone Seagull - and so I have always wanted to see if I had anything to add to the discussion that for me, fiction represents. Of course life got in the way, and jobs and children and stuff... but finally in 2022 I enrolled in a writing course at Faber in London and Odette Rising was the result.
To say that it has been a joy to write is an understatement. I have LOVED it. AndI hope you love reading it. Book number two is on the way.
