Julian E. Benoit didn’t always dream of being an author. A lifelong fan of science fiction and fantasy, he was a voracious reader but a straight C-level student in English, mainly because he rarely finished his assigned reading or homework. Instead of pursuing literature, he earned a degree in biology. Upon graduation, he was qualified to swing a hammer for a living and spent nearly nine years in the construction industry. He joined the U.S. Army at the ripe old age of thirty, where he had the opportunity to travel to exotic locales, most of which most people would rather not visit. Though he does not write military fiction, his twenty-one years of military experience are a major influence on his writing. He began writing a sci-fi novel during college and chipped away at it over the next two decades, frequently rewriting large chunks from memory after losing them (lost notebooks, outdated storage media, etc.). Around twenty years later, he finally committed to writing in earnest, only to find himself growing bored with that original story. That shift led to the birth of the magical fantasy world of Aertu, and with it, The Chronicles of Aertu series. He hopes you enjoy reading his stories… and wonders why he’s in the third person.
