Julia McDermott is the author domestic suspense novels DADDY'S GIRL and UNDERWATER; French travel/new adult romance MAKE THAT DEUX; and creative nonfiction ALL THE ABOVE: MY SON'S BATTLE WITH BRAIN CANCER, awarded Finalist, 2016 Georgia Author of the Year. DADDY'S GIRL was a 2017 GAYA Nominee, and UNDERWATER was a 2015 GAYA Nominee and 2014 Killer Nashville Silver Falchion Award Nominee (Best Novel). Julia's short story, "The Riverfest," is included in crime stories anthology DOWN TO THE RIVER, published in April 2019 and edited by Tim O'Mara with an Introduction by Hank Phillippi Ryan. Julia is also the author of Personal Journey "Fear and Gratitude," published by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, about ALL THE ABOVE and how her son’s battle with cancer changed her life, and his. A native of Texas, Julia grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and earned a degree from UNC-Chapel Hill in Economics and French. A fluent French speaker, she lives in northeastern Florida only a few miles from the beach. She loves reading, football, the UNC Tar Heels, most kinds of art and all things French.
