José Marzo is a novelist, short story writer, and philosopher of language.

His literary influences include authors such as Anton Chekhov and Raymond Carver, Leo Tolstoy and Albert Camus, among others. Well-known in alternative literary circles in Spain, he has promoted various cultural projects, such as the publishing house ACVF – La Vieja Factoría and the Diálogo Bookstore in Madrid. His latest writings can be read in Revista Mínima.

Among his novels, readers have highlighted the controversial La alambrada (The Barbed Wire), Olga y la ciudad (Olga and the City), and the unique Viento en los oídos (Wind in the Ears), a novel written aloud, to be read aloud.

He is an amateur photographer.

In 2001, he was one of the promoters and signatories of the Leyenda de los Independientes (Legend of the Independents), by which he pledged not to submit his fiction to prizes awarded to unpublished works and decided without public debate.

A Doctor of Language Science, he is the author of the Axiological Hypothesis, which points to the semiotic origin of the value principles of humanism.
