John William Enos Jr. was born in New London, Connecticut, and raised in the nearby town of Waterford, a small New England community along the shoreline of Long Island Sound. He has always referred to it as “God’s Country” a place where neighbors looked after one another, where generosity and selflessness were part of everyday life, and where the needs of others came before one’s own wants.

He and his sister Kathy were raised by their father, John, an electrician by trade as well as an Army and Air Force veteran, and their mother, Mary, a devoted homemaker who embodied the quiet sacrifices of her generation. Both parents, born of immigrant families and shaped by the hardships of the Great Depression and World War II, instilled in their children a strong sense of duty to America. They believed it was each person’s responsibility to leave the nation and the world better than they found it, to pursue knowledge, and to challenge the status quo in order to bring about positive change.

With this foundation, John attended the University of Connecticut, where he earned a BA in Business Administration and developed a lifelong fascination with history and the law. These interests ultimately led him to confront difficult questions about the roots of firearm violence in America and to explore what could be done to end it. His search for understanding became an introspective journey that culminated in his work, The Second Amendment: “The Right to Keep and Bear Arms” (Defending the “Real” Second Amendment).
