I was born in Scotland in 1960. Some 40 years later, I hiked the 2160 mile Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. Partly to make sense of the experience, I published a book. Writing the book on occasion felt much more difficult than hiking through America for 5 1/2 months. I have republished the original book with some amendments and more photos to celebrate the 20th anniversary of my long walk. I will also be in Damascus, Virginia in May 2020 for the annual Trail Days celebration.
