Before becoming an academic, John Campbell was a factory worker, bartender, mosquito exterminator and social worker. He is now the Class of 1925 Professor and Professor of Sociology Emeritus at Dartmouth College. He has also held faculty positions at Harvard University, the Copenhagen Business School, Washington State University and the University of Wisconsin. He's written several books, most recently "The World of States" 2nd edition (Cambridge University Press, 2021), "What Capitalism Needs: Forgotten Lessons of Great Economists" (Cambridge University Press, 2021) and "Institutions Under Siege: Donald Trump's Attack on the Deep State" (Cambridge University Press, 2023).
