J. David Kegg (David) was born was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, a quick bike ride and treacherous, hilly creek bed descent away from the mighty, if slightly aromatic, Ohio River. Not that he was ever allowed to ride his bike beyond his own street, or to descend treacherous creek beds miles from home. Born in a time before the Internet and streaming, his life was largely centered around racing home in time to watch weekday afternoon cartoons, followed by a Saturday morning of, you guessed it, more cartoons. This lifestyle continued for years, even after David discovered girls, pimples, and an aptitude for multiplying one times two (is two), times two (is four), times two (is eight), times two (is sixteen), etc. in his head up into the millions. Which basically meant that he had a lot of free time. Through the miracle of dumb luck, David eventually managed to reach adulthood, if not the age of maturity. An avid distance runner, David imagines that he will eventually get lost on some remote hiking trail and, consequently, be eaten by squirrels or weasels because he has no natural sense of direction. His journey in writing and illustration started only recently as an attempt to support the dreams of his twin sons (Sam and Ben), who were studying digital media in college. It is through his shortcomings as both a writer and an illustrator that he hopes to inspire their ultimate success. Only time will tell if they ever move out of the basement. When not writing or illustrating tongue-in-cheek stories of wonder and adventure, a few of which may actually be somewhat true, David spends his time in Western Michigan being tormented by his spouse of many, many, many years and his four disrespectful children, who are likely at this very moment planning to commit him to a home, hopefully a place that gives sponge baths and keeps sugar within reach at all times. In the meantime, he curses them all daily with his very existence.
