Jo Priestley is a Yorkshire writer who has written ten books (and counting) for the 'Women of Old Yorkshire' collection of standalone historical love stories. She has been referred to as 'Yorkshire's own Catherine Cookson' which she considers a fine accolade, as she was her mum's favourite author. Jo grew up with tales around the fireside in the faded glory of her Irish grandmother's ancient house. It created the perfect atmosphere, and a life-long love of storytelling was the legacy her grandmother left behind. Jo wrote the novels for over ten years before publishing in 2023, and 'The Calling of Highbrook' was her debut; a psychological, twisting, turning love story set on the North York Moors. All the tales have a sprinkling of grit in varying amounts, digging deep to delve into her many years of life experience. Love in all forms are explored, not only romantic, as she believes other great loves are just as important in our lives. Jo considers raising a large family of strong, kind-hearted daughters to adulthood her greatest achievement. She now commits herself as much to her passion for storytelling to make her family, and particularly her grandmother, proud.
