Jim Tracy is a renowned keynote speaker, best-selling author and popular podcaster. He is the founder and former CEO of Legacy Telecommunications. Having left the role in August 2023 he remains the Chairman and Board Member of multiple privately held companies. His career within the Legacy Companies spans over 30 years. Before Legacy, Jim was the Director of International Business for an engineered wood products manufacturer. Prior to Tracy’s time as a Senior Executive, he was responsible for the development and sales of products for both construction products and OEM peripherals. Jim’s career began as a welder and tower constructor for the electrical transmission and distribution industry, spending most of that time in substation and powerline construction. Following that he attended the Beacom School of Business at the University of South Dakota. As a leader, Tracy is known for his trust in team-based leadership with an emphasis on scaling through individual responsibility. Much of this comes from his time understanding aviation teamwork from the perspective of a type-rated jet pilot. Some of his most popular keynotes reference teamwork and individual responsibility meshing into success. As a best-selling author, Jim wrote “Building Men, Character Lessons from Influencers” and the newly released “Management by Cliché, Business Proverbs that Worked” published by Morgan James. They will be soon followed by “Worship Disorder” and “Management by Cliché - 2” through the same publisher. His video podcast, “The Grampion” has reached top one percent in the world and is found on YouTube, Apple & Spotify. Jim was inducted into the Wireless History Foundation’s Wireless Hall of Fame in 2021, honored with the Bill Carlson Lifetime Service Award from NATE in 2022 and received the Business ICON of Idaho Award in 2024. He has been recognized by other stellar non-profit enterprises in the telecommunications industry as well as for his volunteerism including Habitat for Humanity, Ducks Unlimited and SIPA. Jim was born in Watertown, SD and has been married to Sarah for 46 years. Together they have five children, 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Jim fills spare time with his church, flying to events with some outdoors activity always close in their home in Eagle, ID.
