Jim Brown is a veteran of the law enforcement profession with significant management experience. Following his time with the Warrensville Heights Police Department outside of Cleveland Ohio which originated as a patrol officer, followed by a promotion to Sergeant, then to Lieutenant, and finally on to Detective Lieutenant, he was appointed as the Chief of Police in Hudson, Ohio, utilizing 50 sworn and non-sworn civilian staff in providing safety and security for 23,000 residents outside of Akron, Ohio where he spent 11+ years in that capacity. He possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, an Associate’s Degree in Psychology, and he is a 1996 graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. (185th Session). Most recently, in August 2017, Jim attained his recognition as a “Certified Protection Professional” (CPP) through ASIS. An accomplished writer and orator, he has authored numerous writings on a variety of policing topics, most notably disaster/crisis management, and a number of his written works have been published at the state and national level in several policing publications. He also appeared before a sub-committee of the U.S. Senate to speak to the issue of disaster/crisis management concerns from a law enforcement perspective. Jim has authored articles on such topics as, Community Oriented Policing, managing morale, and establishing essential hiring practices to enhance the potential for recruiting and retaining quality personnel. Jim has conducted training for law enforcement personnel in the areas of technical accident investigation to include re-construction, SWAT tactics based on 10 years of tactical team experience, and disaster/crisis management. In addition to a decorated policing career, Jim is an accomplished Security administrator with a diverse level of experience in public transit security, health-care safety and security, and County Government safety and security services. As of this writing, Jim is working for his hometown Police Department in Marana, Arizona as a Background Investigator.
