Watching the dynamic between my mother and fathers has stripped the rose-colored glasses from me, though. I've never wanted to match. And I certainly never wanted to attend one of the glitzy galas the Council uses to woo Omegas.

Moving to Wyoming wasn't part of my five-year plan. Of course, neither was finding out my husband had a mistress. Or becoming a widow before the divorce was finalized. Really, nothing in the last six months has been anything less than a mess.

While bonding was certainly eventful for me, it's been anything but the precious occasion pedaled by the Unified Council. But then, most Omegas know the name of the Alpha they share a bond with, and they certainly haven't been suffering from an abnormally aggressive form of bond sickness.

I've been suppressing my inherent Omega nature since the damn Council member delivered the news of my designation in the spring of my senior year of high school. I had dreams. I had travel plans. One stupid packet changed all of it—mostly.
