Jenny O’Connell is a writer, speaker, teacher, and outdoor guide. Her writing explores themes of wildness, adventure, risk, and joy, and reimagines how we relate to the earth. She is the author of WILDHEART. Her award-winning nonfiction has appeared in Creative Nonfiction, Backcountry, Down East, Appalachia Journal, and elsewhere, and she collaborates with photographers and documentary filmmakers to tell immersive environmental stories through film. Wild Story, her Substack, is a collection of essays and creative invitations for staying wild, tender, awake, and connected in today’s world. Jenny holds an MFA from Stonecoast. She teaches creative writing and guides hiking and paddling expeditions that connect people to their wildness and power. She lives in Portland, Maine.
