Jeff Whelchel, M.D. spent more than twenty years as a family physician in Amarillo, Texas, before burnout and a long crisis of faith brought that first life to an end. What came next surprised him. He left medicine, became a financial advisor, and slowly found a version of himself he had been too exhausted and too busy to reach. His memoir, The Long Road to Surrender, is the story of that unraveling and the God he could not outrun. He also write the Poppy Stories series of children's books, named for what his grandchildren call him, and is the author of The New Thyroid Handbook. Jeff and his wife Pam have been married since 1989. They live in the Texas Panhandle. He writes for the person who is tired, the person whose faith is hanging by a thread, and the person who suspect it might not be too late to begin again.
