Dr. Jayvee Walker obtained a Ph.D. in Coastal Oceanography at the former Marine Sciences Research Center, renamed School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, State University of New York at Stony Brook. Her dissertation focused on understanding cross-frontal exchange in the Middle Atlantic Bight and co-authored various studies in the field of oceanography. Her most cited publication is her study on upwelling in the Philippines which was published in Deep Sea Research. She has worked as faculty and researcher in Marine Science at the University of the Philippines-Marine Science Institute and as Associate Faculty at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo. For several years she has volunteered at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point, California Education Department. Her interests include nature photography, videography, gardening, travel, writing, and music. She lives in Mission Viejo, California with her husband and two daughters.
