Jay S. Scott began writing Ascension in 2017, scribbling the first 90 pages after being laid off from work—a period that sparked a quiet conviction: maybe he could actually write a novel. That early burst of inspiration stalled when the realities of how involved writing a book actually was, sank in. The manuscript was shelved, and in 2022, he returned with renewed purpose, devouring every writing lecture or video he could find—from Jerry B. Jenkins, to self-published veterans—determined to sharpen his skill and finish what he started. By 2025, he had built a foundation strong enough to carry the story to its finale. Writing is Jay's creative outlet, and has also become a way for him to withdraw for just a moment, from the structured corridors of his career in Human Resources. He lives in Kansas, with his adventurous three-year-old son, his supportive (and occasionally skeptical) wife, and more story ideas than he’ll ever have time to write. When not daydreaming, drafting battle scenes or fleshing out ancient mythologies, he can be found running after his three-year-old son (or by himself on a running trail), balancing work and family, and building a legacy one chapter at a time.
