Here is my witness: God has loved me and been faithful to me over a lifetime, and throughout my life, I have loved God back . . . most of the time. At the most basic level, at the foundation of my life, is this: there is no one like Jesus, God with us. I know God through Jesus, I know myself best through Jesus, and I make sense of the world--in all it's beauty and agony--through Jesus. I'm a lifelong learner, and have a lifetime of study in scripture and theology, and have read broadly in science and math, history, philosophy, the arts and Christian apologetics. By God’s kindness, I’m married to Carolyn—we celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2017. Carolyn and I relish our time together. We spend lots of our free time with our sons and their dear wives and seven grandchildren ranging in age from twenty-seven years to 10 months. We are blessed to be part of a wondrous small group that has been together for more than two decades. I play a little golf, still play the guitar and sing (mostly to myself, but happily to anyone who will listen). In many ways, my book is a book of love: of God's love for you and me and of our love back to God and to our neighbors nearby and throughout the world. I’ve named my book "Jesus And." Here’s why: there are some things we only know, or know most fully, from Jesus of Nazareth, the Only Son of God. Each of us gets to decide whether that is enough for us or not.
