I was born and raised in Winnipeg in Canada and graduated in Arts and Law at the University of Manitoba and Harvard Law School. I have been a senior partner in the Toronto and Washington, DC, offices of a major Canadian law firm, CEO of a prominent Canadian public company based in Montreal and Chair of an Ontario utility. I have advised the governments of Canada and the Province of Ontario. I was active in the International Bar Association. Along the way I wrote articles for law review journals, newspapers and a magazine of popular Canadian history, but only recently did I turn to writing historical fiction. I like trekking, Kayaking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. I live with my wife, Alix, in Toronto and we have four adult children and five grandsons.
