Jack is a retired health worker and has been operating a homestead with his wife and two sons for almost thirty years. During the coronavirus pandemic, his friends have constantly asked him and his wife for tips on how to grow their own food. So, he wrote books about self-sufficiency and homesteading to help not only his friends, but everyone interested in learning how to grow their own food. When he isn't tending the homestead with his wife or writing books, he enjoys hunting and fishing with his sons. The Snyder family also occasionally goes on camping trips where they bring only the absolute necessities and hunt or forage for their food. Jack admits that his wife is the better homesteader as she was the one who started and built the homestead while he was at work. He also admits that most of the content of his books come from his wife and that she should be the main author, but his wife prefers to stay private.
