J.S. was born and raised in Ashtabula, Ohio, a small port town on the southern shore of Lake Erie. A Sunday’s child, an unrepentant Virgo, and an unwilling Catholic, J.S. gravitated towards science fiction and fantasy at an early age. The original Star Trek series made an indelible impression upon him, and he is a die-hard fan to this day. A self-proclaimed purveyor of pop music, J.S. spent the late ‘60s and most of the ‘70s listening to Detroit/Windsor’s Top 30 powerhouse AM 800 CKLW. He still retains his collection of childhood 45s, his college vinyl, and over 1,000 CDs that he just can’t part with. He’s maintained an online radio station since 2004. J.S. came out as queer in his early twenties, though he’d been pairing M/M couples from mainstream media long before that. J.S. enjoys a good red ale, a nice bourbon, and any appetiser with a fancy aioli. He is fiercely progressive, and resides in North Fort Myers, Florida, with his husband, Tommy.
