J.S. was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, a Lake Erie port town where winters are long and imaginations are necessary. A Sunday’s child, a stubborn Virgo, and a Catholic only by accident, he fled early into science fiction and fantasy — especially the original Star Trek, which he still quotes far too often.

He’s a lifelong pop‑music hoarder, still clinging proudly to his childhood 45s, college vinyl, and an alarming number of CDs. Since 2004, he has run an online radio station because playlists are his love language.

J.S. came out as queer in the early 1980s and survived the AIDS crisis through fear, luck, and sheer contrariness. He later found solace in queerfilm and in writing an impressive amount of M/M fanfiction across fandoms like Harry Potter and Supernatural.

He lives in North Fort Myers, Florida, with his husband of thirty years and their bossy Black Mouth Cur, Jo. He enjoys red ale, good bourbon, and any appetizer with a pretentious aioli.
