J. F. Freedman grew up in Maryland outside Washington, D.C, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with BA and MA degrees. He is a best-selling author of a dozen books that have been published in over twenty languages and sold over a million copies world-wide. Under his full name, Jerrold Freedman, he has written, directed, and/or produced dozens of movies for theaters and television, including Kansas City Bomber with Raquel Welch, Borderline with Charles Bronson, Native Son with Oprah Winfrey, Matt Dillon, Elizabeth McGovern, and Geraldine Page, along with the pilot for the original MacGyver television series, episodes of The X-Files, and many other shows. He has multiple Emmy nominations, has won a Writer's Guild of America award, and a television Edgar. As a young television producer, he hired an even younger Steven Spielberg for some of Spielberg's first directing assignments. Mr. Freedman lives on the central California coast, the location for several of his novels.
