Iván Amiguet did not begin his professional journey in the hostel world. At the beginning of the millennium, he was living in London, where he held an executive sales role at the multinational Porcelanosa as National Contract Manager. From the outside, it looked like success. But the constant pressure for results inside the world of large corporations did not make him happy. So he made a decision that would change the course of his life: to stop. But not to stand still. To stop while moving. He began travelling around the world, and along the way he discovered hostels not just as a guest, but as a completely different way of experiencing travel, people, and human connection. What started as a personal search gradually became a professional path, and over time, a distinctive vision of how experience-led businesses should be understood, built, and led. After years as an executive and CEO of a hostel chain in Spain, Iván developed a clear point of view: many businesses do not struggle because of lack of effort, intelligence, or ambition. They struggle because they operate with the wrong logic. He works with hostels to align their social engine and their economic engine. Through that work, he developed Revenue Harmony Management, a model that replaces inherited hotel logic with a system designed specifically for the real nature of hostel businesses. The result is not only better performance, but a stronger, more alive product. This vision is at the heart of LEAN HOSTELS, his first book. Although rooted in the hostel industry, the book goes far beyond it. It explores a wider question that matters across hospitality, SaaS, product, and modern business: what happens when organizations become efficient in ways that make them less desirable, less human, and less alive? In LEAN HOSTELS, Iván turns years of real-world experience into a practical method for founders, managers, operators, and professionals who want to build stronger businesses by creating better alignment between product, culture, community, and economics. The book offers not just a framework for hostels, but a broader way of thinking for anyone building businesses where human experience and commercial performance must work together, not against each other. He is also the founder of Roitels and HostelSphere, two projects through which he explores strategy, industry thinking, and innovation applied to the hostel sector and beyond. LEAN HOSTELS is his first book, and he is already working on his second project. He writes for people who believe that the best businesses are not the ones that optimize one side of the system, but the ones that learn how to make the human side and the economic side stronger together.
