Jimmy is an immigration attorney and the co-founder and CEO of Lai & Turner Law Firm PLLC, based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He founded the firm in October 2022 with his partner Braden Turner—a decision made, in hindsight, through what he describes as an irresponsibly optimistic text message exchange. The firm has grown to over twenty team members and handles immigration law nationwide and globally, alongside family law, criminal defense, es-tate planning, and personal injury matters in Oklahoma.

Jimmy holds a JD and an MBA. He scored a 152 on the LSAT on his third attempt, graduated law school with a B-minus average after spending approximately 125 days playing video games, and failed the bar exam three times before being admitted to practice. He is from Tai-wan and built his career on an E–2 visa, navigating a profession where every traditional door—recruiters, job offers, pedigree networks—was largely closed to him.

Quietly Influential is his first book.

He has built one of the largest LinkedIn followings of any practicing attorney, growing from roughly 800 followers to more than 50,000 through consistent, authentic content. His LinkedIn presence has been credited by peers and colleagues as fundamentally changing how attorneys think about professional visibility online.

Jimmy lives in Oklahoma City and splits his time between Oklahoma and Canada where his wife, Kitti, is currently attending school. Outside of work, he is known for his deep and vocal hatred of cheese, his competitive approach to video games, and a self-deprecating humor that has become a signature of both his writing and his online presence.
