Herman is the co-founder and CEO of Improbable, a software company powering complex simulations and dense, interactive virtual worlds. These worlds can take the form of social spaces, multiplayer games or synthetic environments that simulate the real world, helping governments model, plan and train. Herman founded Improbable in 2012, with the belief that the experiences offered by video games are limited by available hardware and software. Over the past decade, Improbable has developed its ‘Morpheus’ technology, which enables complex large-scale interaction inside virtual spaces, allowing over 10,000 real users to be present in the same dense place in a high fidelity, lag-free experience. Herman is interested in the unprecedented societal impact that powerful, persistent virtual worlds have on how we think, play, organise and make decisions.
