Helen Fisher grew up in Suffolk, England, studied psychology at Westminster university in London and went on to do a masters degree in ergonomics at UCL. After working as a senior evaluator at RNIB, she travelled and eventually moved back to Suffolk. Her novel, Space Hopper, was "THE MOST RECOMMENDED DEBUT OF 2021", and her second novel, Joe Nuthin's Guide to Life, was published in 2023, an uplifting novel about a neurodivergent young man who builds a community and saves a friend in need. Once Upon a Winter Wood is her third novel.
