Heather Darwall-Smith is a UKCP integrative psychotherapist who specialises in sleep and the author of How to Be Awake (So You Can Sleep Through the Night). With a background in design and marketing, Heather spent two decades in the creative industry before pursuing her passion for the mind-body connection. This led to her retraining as a bodyworker while developing a corporate stress awareness programme and earning an MA in Core Process Psychotherapy. She further deepened her sleep medicine, cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness cognitive behavioural therapy training at the University of Oxford. She is also a breathwork and Yoga Nidra practitioner.
Heather has extensive experience in the field of sleep, having worked at the renowned London Sleep Centre before establishing her private practice. She see's clients online and in London. A significant proportion of her clients have ADHD, and her personal experience of being diagnosed later in life gives her a unique perspective on supporting neurodivergent individuals. She is also the author of The Science of Sleep, a visual collection of questions and answers about all things sleep, and her new book, How to Be Awake (So You Can Sleep Through the Night), is due for publication on February 27th, 2025.
Her work goes beyond conventional advice, exploring the intricate relationship between sleep, circadian rhythms, neurodiversity, and the demands of modern life. By bridging scientific understanding with real-life application, Heather helps clients and audiences build healthier relationships with rest.
